Nothing More Than Me

from One Giant Leap by The Summer Circuit

/

about

This song is about being confident and happy with who you are. I'm a weird kind of guy that would rather play Tornado Rex (look it up) with my friends than get sloppy drunk with them, so it took me a while to learn to be OK with that. Your true friends will appreciate your differences or possibly share them with you.

lyrics

I don't need any excess
To be happy so I guess
I'm just a boy who is easy to impress
I'm at my best when I'm
With my friends and when I'm
Not doing much, we're just passing the time

I used to worry that I wasn't happy
But now I see clearly and frankly, I'm glad that I'm me

If you are doubting who you are start shouting
All I ever ever ever want to be
Is nothing more than me

I hurt my heart but I'll be fine
As long as I keep my eyes open and focused
I define my own life
Stitch my heart
Needle thread
Tied tight but in the end
Always depend on you
My dear friend

I used to worry that I wasn't happy
But now I see clearly and frankly, I'm glad that I'm me

(The glockenspiel here has a bit-crusher on it at first, so that's pretty cool, I guess. After that there's kind of a counterpoint thing going on with the guitar/bass and the glock melody.)

If you are doubting who you are start shouting
All I ever ever ever want to be
Is nothing more than me

(Chiptune outro, using sounds emulated from an NES' soundchip)
