Come Home Again
03:17
|
|
||
Oh, oh, oh
Goodbye leads to hello-oh-oh
Although I have to go-oh-oh
I just want to let you know
That love you don't outgrow
Ooh, ooh, ooh
I'll come home to you-ooh-ooh
I know that you miss me
And I miss you too
I gotta do what I gotta do
But when these days are through
I'll come home to you
And I will go, go, go
As far as these dreams will take me
But I don't know, know, know
How far that will be
And I'll grow up, up, up
But when I fall down, down, down
I'll come home again
It's hard to find someone who cares
It's hard to find someone who's always there
And I know, I know
That you will have my back forever more
(Drumline solo) (I like to imagine Nick Cannon playing it)
(Guitar solo blah blah blah)
And I will go, go, go
As far as these dreams will take me
But I don't know, know, know
How far that will be
And I'll grow up, up, up
But when I fall down, down, down
I'll come home again

Say Hello For Me
03:47
|
|
||
You grew up so much faster than me
So is that girl gone or is she too far away to see?
And with the lights low, I know I cannot breathe
So be my lightshow
And I don't remember, no I don't remember
What it felt like when it was just us three
But I miss her, yeah, I miss her
But I don't know where she could be
So if you see her say hello for me
Yeah, say hello for me
(Lots of "gnarly" time-based effects going on here with the drums and the distorted piano/celesta tracks, took forever to get this sounding right. I would be remiss not to mention the guitar playing the reggae strum pattern in the background. Truly "radical" and/or "wicked")
You knew it so much sooner than me
I guess as time goes, things change
It's plain enough to see
But I will stay here waiting cuz I still believe
That I'm mistaken
And I don't remember, no I don't remember
What it felt like when it was just us three
But I miss her, yeah, I miss her
But I don't know where she could be
So if you see her say hello for me
Yeah, say hello for me
Your photos say you're doing fine
But all I know is what you post online
I guess I'm just a piece of what you left behind
But I won't let you go
So I'll just pass this note
And hope you read what I wrote
I'm glad that she is happy and she finally feels free
If you see her, say hello for me

Nothing More Than Me
03:48
|
|
||
I don't need any excess
To be happy so I guess
I'm just a boy who is easy to impress
I'm at my best when I'm
With my friends and when I'm
Not doing much, we're just passing the time
I used to worry that I wasn't happy
But now I see clearly and frankly, I'm glad that I'm me
If you are doubting who you are start shouting
All I ever ever ever want to be
Is nothing more than me
I hurt my heart but I'll be fine
As long as I keep my eyes open and focused
I define my own life
Stitch my heart
Needle thread
Tied tight but in the end
Always depend on you
My dear friend
I used to worry that I wasn't happy
But now I see clearly and frankly, I'm glad that I'm me
(The glockenspiel here has a bit-crusher on it at first, so that's pretty cool, I guess. After that there's kind of a counterpoint thing going on with the guitar/bass and the glock melody.)
If you are doubting who you are start shouting
All I ever ever ever want to be
Is nothing more than me

This song has no lyrics, one might call it an "instrumental." One might also call it a "chiptune." It uses an emulated NES sound chip for its sounds.

Walking Away
04:41
|
|

If what they say is true
Then all good things have to come to an end
Oh no, oh no
But at least I'm not alone
I'm so lucky to call you my friend
I know, I know
Do you remember when we said
We won't let time go to our heads?
And now we're too far gone
And I can't expect you or anyone
To want to turn back the hands of time
Just once, just once
Things change and we'll grow up
But I'm standing here with my heart in my hands
Oh no, oh no
New friends they come and go
But I'll always have the three of us in
My heart, my soul
Do you remember when we said
We won't let time go to our heads?
And now we're too far gone
And I can't expect you or anyone
To want to turn back the hands of time
Just once, just once
You are all grown up now
And I've been left behind
I don't think you even realize
That this has been on my mind
And I know that you will be by my side
And I respect your ways
I just wish that you would stay
But in the corner of my eye
I can see you walking away
Do you remember when we said
We won't let time go to our heads?
And now we're too far gone
And I can't expect you or anyone
To want to turn back the hands of time
Just once, just once
(The backup vocals in this song were sung by my friends! Thanks Andrew (Sandshrew), Bobby (Bobbo), Jes (Grey Jes), Hadar (Goldar) and Luke (...Quags?)!)

Your Hand In Mine
04:14
|
|
||
I live in the present
So my past is kind of blurred
I would scream my brash opinions
Just to make sure I was heard
And I showed off all my talents
But I never aspired to art
Until I met you
And my tiny chest began to grow a heart
You with your quiet smile
And the humility you prefer
Beating back all of your confidence
So you wouldn't cause a stir
You put everyone before you
And I guess that's why I felt
I had never met someone like you
I wished that I was more like you myself
Since I found you I have not felt fear
My path isn't clear year after year
But I get to walk with you
And if I recall
You are the reason for it all
So as we stayed up late nights
Just chit-chatting on the phone
Something began to swell inside of me
Something I had never known
And for the first time in our short lives
We had something good to teach
People thirty years our senior
Would behoove to hear our speech
Sir and ma'am if you would listen
We feel we have something to tell
It's a simple tip but we promise
It will unlock you from your cell
Through all of life's curveballs
Its most common trick by far
Is missing what you've always wanted
Cuz you're too busy counting stars
So I hold her close and tight
Because with everything I see
I don't think there's another puzzle piece
That could fit so perfectly beside me
My life it will be easy
Though I'm at the starting line
There's not a challenge I can't tackle
When I have your hand in mine
Since I found you I have not felt fear
My path isn't clear year after year
But I get to walk with you
And if I recall
You are the reason for it all
(A sampled music box plays the melody while a piano arpeggiates underneath, guitar joins the arpeggio fun too)
I will bravely climb that steep incline
With your hand securely clasped in mine

Growing Up
03:02
|
|

(Intro uses a sampled music box for the melody, electric piano for the harmony, and a modded Speak & Spell as a drum machine. There are also traditional drums that I chopped up a bit in there too.)
They ask me if I want a drink
And I respectfully decline
Cuz at 21 I haven't changed that much
Since back when I was nine
What makes me so much better
Yeah, what makes me so wise?
My arms and legs are longer now
But my heart is the exact same size
I refuse all these formalities
And I resist the common route
But I'm not swimming in self confidence
I'm drowning in my doubt
I'm guided by my instincts
And I'm sure of how I feel
But centuries of social norms
Make me doubt my false ideals
(Guitar solo and then strings, timpani and celesta join in later on)
My friends all seem so ready now
In their new world they're immersed
They're all going through the changes
But they all seem so rehearsed
I could fit into a designer suit
And wave my past goodbye
Yeah, I could do it all
But it all would be a lie

Imagining Heaven
02:05
|
|
||
On earth my brother could not walk
But here he walks and here he talks
And although he can do now
What he once could not
It is my parents who prayed
And finally deserve what they got
I call out his name
We share our first conversation
I get to know him all over again
Then we sit with our family
And with our friends
All wounds are healed
And it's not just pretend
Heaven for me is just like life
But more complete than it ever was
